Fever Guard

Fever Guard is a family friendly application designed to make it easier to interpret thermometer readings regardless of which method is used or which measurement unit is displayed.

It keeps track of readings over time and allows the user to better understand how their bodies cope with fever.

Problem space

There is no easy and quick way to determine if you or your child has a fever. The answer can vary with age, measurement method, etc. Some sources only include measurements in Celsius or Fahrenheit, adding confusion.

Solution

A mobile application that would provide a systematic and portable means of interpreting thermometer data based on person’s age but regardless of which method is used or which measurement unit is displayed. It keeps track of readings over time and allows the user to better understand how their bodies cope with fever.

Overview

3 KEY FEATURES

Based on our audience’s needs, values, and goals, I decided to focus on three core elements within the application:

  • Profile
  • Reading
  • History

Profile

Fever Guard is designed as a family friendly application meaning that it can be used to store data for the whole family.

Each family member gets a profile which means that parents can create as many accounts as they need. This allows to keep progress of readings per member.

Reading

One screen is used to collect all the data required to provide an interpretation of the temperature reading.

Reading: results

The result screen summarizes the input data and provides a recommendation based on user’s age.

History

Keeping a temperature diary can be a valuable component of treatment for many people, but especially younger kids. The app keeps track of readings over time and allows the user to better understand how their bodies cope with fever. The user can switch view both graph and list views and specify a time period.
